2026 Roundtable & Cultural Launch

Building Stronger Futures Together

Nyunnga Ku Regional Community Collective Hub — Leonora, Western Australia

The 2026 Roundtable & Cultural Launch marks another significant step forward for Nyunnga Ku Aboriginal Corporation and the communities of the Northern Goldfields. Held at the Nyunnga Ku Regional Community Collective Hub in Leonora, the event brought together community members, Elders, partner organisations, and government representatives to share progress, celebrate milestones, and look ahead.

Since the Hub opened its doors, 239 people have walked through them. That number reflects something real — the trust that community has placed in this model, and the growing momentum behind what Nyunnga Ku is building.

The roundtable format creates space for honest conversation. Partners, community, and stakeholders sit together — not in separate rooms — and talk about what is working, what is needed, and where the work is heading. That approach reflects the organisation's founding values: community-led, culturally grounded, and built for the long term.

Community Impact

A place. Our people. Our community.

The Hub is not a building — it is a model. A way of working that aligns community, government, and service providers around shared priorities. When people walk through the doors of the Hub, they find a space that belongs to them.

The Back to Country Camps, held annually on Country in Leinster, continue to be a cornerstone of the cultural program. Families — men, women, and youth — come together to share stories, practise cultural traditions, and build connections across generations. Service providers attend alongside community, participating in yarning circles and workshops that directly shape how programs are designed and delivered.

Aboriginal artworks created by community members are displayed throughout the Hub. Culture is not decoration here — it is the foundation of everything the organisation does.

Key Initiatives

What the Hub is building

Native Nursery Project

A community-led initiative that grows locally significant plant species using cultural knowledge passed down through Elders. The project creates hands-on employment and training pathways while restoring connection to Country and supporting biodiversity across the Northern Goldfields.

We are growing not just plants — but people, culture, and future opportunity.

Education & Capability Building

In partnership with Leonora District High School, Nyunnga Ku is running a Community Seedling Project, a Community Mural Project, and Year 12 Placement support. Youth Career Pathways Development and supported training models are designed to prevent disengagement and create real futures for young people in the region.

Health & Social Wellbeing

Integrated regional health services are delivered in partnership with Curtin University's Goldfields University Department of Rural Health. The model is place-based and culturally safe, providing wrap-around social and emotional wellbeing support designed with and for community.

Carbon Offset & Solar Energy

Nyunnga Ku is exploring carbon offset and solar energy opportunities in partnership with Indigenous Energy Australia. This initiative builds toward long-term environmental and economic sustainability for the community and the Hub.

REAL Justice Transitional Program

Delivered in partnership with the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), the REAL Justice Transitional Program supports community members navigating the justice system. The program is designed around community values and focuses on sustainable reintegration and long-term wellbeing.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital (LLND)

LLND programs are co-designed with community to ensure they are relevant, accessible, and culturally grounded. These programs build foundational skills that open pathways to employment, further education, and greater participation in community life.
